The much-vilified Bowe Bergdhal is a heroic individual who came to see the criminal nature of the US invasion of Afghanistan.

Andy Piascik writes in Blackstar News: << Summer approaches and the stench of war is all around. Or, as the great Bob Marley put it, Everywhere is War. Start with the commemorations over a five-week span of Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day, all presented varyingly as celebrations of our war dead, symbols of our greatness, the freedoms we love so dearly and seek to export to every corner of the world and, perhaps most important, the unquestioned rightness of our cause.

In reality, the celebrations are of imperialist war, with the talk about the hallowed dead just so much cover for the murderous nature of US foreign policy. Celebrating the dead - note that the dead celebrated are just the American dead, not any of the millions killed by US aggression or client states - is a no-lose proposition designed to render anyone who asks the wrong questions a traitor or a terrorist. The notion that the US regularly commits war crimes and that polished, well-educated men like John Kennedy and Barack Obama are war criminals is unthinkable; war criminals look like Osama bin-Laden and Saddam Hussein and those other nasty people far away, over there >>.

Long ago Wilfred Owen wrote:

<< If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood

Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,

Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud

Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest

To children ardent for some desperate glory,

The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est

Pro patria mori. >>

The media, the government, the corporations in our society all use the glamorisation of war, coldly, as a means to an end. Currently, today in late October 2021 people across the city I live in are wearing their 'red poppies' - a symbol which once denoted an end to violence but which today is literally the same as Hitler's swastika - a symbol of brutal militarist state-terrorist white supremacist 'power' - that is all the red poppy means today in 2021 and people who wear it are almost all people whose ideology can quickly be seen as such, as that of Adolf Hitler.

Hitler's victory over Britain is dramatic - the symbol they waved after Hitler's defeat has now become the flag of Hitler's reanimated corpse - the 'opponents of Hitler' have murdered MILLIONS of people since the birth of that poppy and have waved it as they committed violent destructive acts and butchered countless children, women, men and old folk, even PAINTED IT ON THE SIDE OF BOMBERS IN THE SKY, destroying cities, wiping out whole families, schools, businesses, homes - while waving the red poppy as they do it - it represents to them the 'civilised' and 'exceptional' nature of themselves and 'why' it is they 'must' bomb those they deem 'infidels' by action or association. The role of the poppy now is exactly the same as the role of a swastika in Hitler's Germany - a brand logo of genocide.

And when the pilots and crew of the planes with poppies painted on the side have finished bombing a muslim urban space, then they go home for a pie, some beer, a good fart and a moan about how the asian muslim doctor who advises them to not eat and drink things which will kill them quickly is a terrorist and beats women and now is ruining the country by not 'seeing enough patients' during the pandemic. If the Asian doctor is a woman then she doesn't beat women, she is submissive and does what brown men tell her. Either way, the muslim doctor who can save their lives is to them evil, whilst their actual evil genocidal actions are, to them, indications of how much more intelligent and unbestial and unviolent they are compared to their muslim male and female doctors.
